This Saint Isidore the Farmer Statue stands 24" tall and depicts this patron saint of farmers and laborers standing and holding a farming hoe, with a canteen at his side and a tree stump behind him. Saint Isidore lived from circa 1070 to May 15, 1130 and worked faithfully on the estate of a wealthy landowner at Torrelaguna on the outskirts of Madrid, Spain. He was a holy man who married a young woman who also became a saint, Maria de la Cabeza. Their only child, a son, died in infancy. Both were devoted to God and lived lives of Christian charity and faith, caring for the poor and providing food to those in need. St. Isidore also had a great concern for the proper treatment of animals. This concrete statue features a light gray finish and wording on the front of the base of the statue which reads "St. Isidore Pray For Us" along with an image of a farmer with an ox, plow and wheat. This statue will make a wonderful accent to any home, garden or grotto.
