This second edition of the Catechism has been revised in accordance with the official Latin text promulgated by Pope John Paul II in 1997 and the 2018 revision of no. 2267 by Pope Francis. It also has been enhanced by the addition of more than 100 pages that feature an analytical index translated from the Latin text and a glossary of terms. This volume contains the essential elements of our faith presented in the most understandable manner, enabling everyone to read and know what the Church professes, celebrates, lives, and prays.
The United States Catholic Catechism for Adults is an adaptation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and it is presented to Catholics of the United States in the hope that it will be an aid and a guide for deepening faith. Intended as a resource for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and for the ongoing catechesis of adults, it will also be of interest for those who wish to become acquainted with Catholicism. For the faithful, it can also serve as an invitation to continue growing in the understanding of Jesus Christ and his saving love for all people.
