As in his original "Little Flower" sculpture, the artist depicts the teenage Carmelite nun, Saint Therese of Lisieux, also known as the "Little Flower," writing poems to the Lord. Her words take flight as angels that rise to heaven, and the angels' wings take shape as petals to form a rose, the symbol of love, beauty and this Saint's own miracle of sending us flowers from heaven in keeping with her promise: "I will spend my heaven doing good on earth. I will let fall a shower of roses."
